MyIR now requires two-step verification for all users

Inland Revenue has officially made two-step verification (2SV) mandatory for all myIR users. This security upgrade, now fully rolled out, means customers will be prompted to set up 2SV the next time they log in—if they haven’t already.

As part of its October system update, Inland Revenue also introduced several enhancements to the 2SV experience:

  • New ‘Security’ Tab: Located under ‘Manage my profile’, users can now manage their 2SV methods and update their mobile number or email address from a central place.
  • Text Message Option Added: You can now receive your 2SV code via text.

Quick Reminders:

  • Passkey Users: If you log in using a passkey, you won’t be required to enter a 2SV code.
  • ‘Trust This Device’ Option: Selecting this allows you to skip 2SV codes for up to 90 days on the same browser. Note: clearing cookies resets this.
